It was founded in Switzerland and Germany in the 1500's and brought to Colonial America in the 1700's by immigrants who settled primarily in the Pennsylvania area.

I had a question brought to me which was where do I buy black scherenschnitte paper.
Actually it is hard to find so I have been using black card stock.
